Don’t forget to tune in to 107.9 Coast FM tomorrow. The Heat the Barn radiothon in support of Big Sky Ranch Animal Sanctuary runs from 7:00am to 7:00pm. Host Chris Walker will spend the night in a barn at Big Sky to raise funds and awareness. Last year’s event brought in $4,100 last year.
Brewed Awakenings in Kemptville is partnering with the radio station again this year. The coffee shop is offering any size coffee or tea for $2 tomorrow, with all proceeds going to Heat the Barn.

Andy Parent, Big Sky Ranch Founder, says the rescue is currently housing 127 animals and over 100 rely on the barns to stay warm in the winter. He noted a typical heating bill for a single month in the winter is around $1,200. Parent explained that Heat the Barn makes a big difference when it comes to keeping the animals out of the cold.
He says Walker will be sleeping in a stall, on a hay bale bed, complete with a surprise roommate. He noted the animal likes to talk, so the pair should get along swimmingly.
