Brockville Rifles seek to fill ranks

The Brockville Rifles is recruiting. The Canadian Army Reserve is at half capacity, with around 90 members.

Deputy Commander Officer Major Stephen Giberson says there are nearly 170 positions in total, ranging from infantry, administration, communications and transportation. He noted the unit voluntarily deploys on domestic operations, such as floods and ice storms.

Major Giberson explained being a reservist is akin to having a part-time job, with training sessions every Thursday night and some weekends. He noted the unit is open to anyone between the ages of 17 and 55, contingent on completion of basic training.

Major Giberson says the Rifles are looking for people who want to do something interesting, while serving their community and country.
