Wubs Transit helps senior get back on his feet

Art Soper was on the verge of homelessness last month. The 66-year-old has now found secure housing and employment, thanks to two area businesses. RB Heating & Cooling set him up with a place to live and Wubs Transit has offered him a job.

Soper will start work at Precision Diesel and No Limits Auto Parts in Winchester on February 3.

Nanda Wubs, owner/operator of Wubs Transit and its sister companies, says the position of Quality Control Manager was created specifically for Soper, who has nearly two decades of experience in the field.

She noted he will be involved in business development, with the goal of securing new contracts and eventually setting up a second location west of Winchester.

Wubs – an advocate for people living in poverty – volunteers with Community Food Share and part of her role is helping people who are homeless. When she heard about Soper’s situation, she reached out to him to offer assistance.

Wubs explained he’s excited about the job, and brings energy and ideas to the table. She says he’s a warm person with a lot of heart, which aligns with the company’s values.

Soper says he is grateful to Nanda and Richard Wubs for the opportunity and he couldn’t have asked for a better conclusion to his 18-month job search.
