High school classes could be cancelled on Wednesday

The Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF) is planning another one-day strike. The full withdrawal of services will impact select school boards across the province, including the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB), on Wednesday.

High school teachers and education workers will hit the picket line if a new agreement is not reached with the province. The union began withdrawing services and holding rotating one-day strikes at the end of November to put pressure on the government.

The UCDSB says that if the one-day strike happens, there will be no classes, planned activities, co-op placements, dual-credit programs or extra-curricular activities for students in grades nine to 12.

Classes for students in kindergarten to grade eight will proceed as usual. The board noted community use programs and child care operations will not be impacted.
