Glass Tiger coming to Kemptville in 2020

Kemptville Live Music Festival announced its Sunday headliners for 2020. Glass Tiger, Honeymoon Suite and Andy Kim are performing. The festival runs from July 23 to 26 next year. Tickets go on sale Monday.

Glass Tiger is one of Canada’s most enduring and iconic bands. Originally known as Tokyo, the band formed in Newmarket, Ontario in 1981. A recording deal with Capitol Records quickly followed in 1985 and Glass Tiger’s debut album, The Thin Red Line, rocketed up the charts. Glass Tiger is well known for its song Don’t Forget Me (When I’m Gone).

Johnnie Dee and Gerry Grehan, the founding members of Honeymoon Suite, met in 1982. The following year, the band entered a contest put on by a Toronto radio station and its song New Girl Now won the contest, resulting in a record deal. The band toured Canada and the United States throughout 1983 and 1984, opening for such acts as Billy Idol, April Wine, Laura Branigan, Jethro Tull, The Kinks, and Bryan Adams. The original band reformed in 2015 and released its latest album Hands Up.

Andy Kim won the very first JUNO Award ever given out for Male Vocalist of the Year in 1970. In 1974, he wrote and produced Rock Me Gently which went straight to #1 on the Billboard charts, where it remained for a staggering four months. During his career, Kim has sold over 30 million records. He was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame this year.
