BMR delivers warmth to local family

Food bank clients are getting an early Christmas present.

BMR Winchester, in partnership with the House of Lazarus and Community Food Share, is delivering wood this week. Heat for the Holidays provides people with a month’s supply of Eco-Energy Logs. A total of 10 households, including one just outside of Prescott, will receive deliveries today.

Ken Boje, owner of BMR, says Heat for the Holidays has grown 40% this year. He noted 32 clients have already registered and requests come in throughout January and February. The program will serve between 40 and 45 families when all is said and done, according to Boje.

Donations are still needed to the program: $63 covers a week’s supply of logs and $252 pays for an entire month.

Boje says recipients are very grateful, doling out hugs and handshakes.

People can drop by the House of Lazarus, Community Food Share or BMR to make a donation.
