Vehicles stolen in Prescott linked to major theft ring

100 officers descended on a major high-end vehicle theft ring, resulting in 350 charges laid against 20 people. Project Shildon was launched in June following a series of vehicle thefts in Central and Eastern Ontario. A total of 497 vehicles were stolen from residences and dealerships.

Superintendent Bryan MacKillop, Director of the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, and representatives from the project’s partner agencies held a news conference yesterday to reveal the details of the five-month investigation.

Search warrants were executed in Montreal and 97 stolen vehicles, slated to be shipped to Africa, were recovered. Drugs were also seized, including MDMA, cocaine and ecstasy.

Two of the vehicles were stolen from residences in Prescott, six from dealerships in Brockville and over 100 from Ottawa.
