Aquaworld is on track to break ground in 2021, according to developer Stefano Ferrante.
The rezoning application for the $115-million development was approved by Augusta Township on December 2.
Aquaworld secured the land just outside of Prescott at the beginning of July. The 260-acre property is located at 1838 Merwin Lane.
Ferrante says the next step is site plan control, which could take between six and eight months. He noted the site plan contains information the town still needs to see, such as the plans for stormwater management, grading and landscaping.
Ferrante explained Aquaworld will create around 350 new jobs, including full and part-time, once the resort opens its doors. He says that doesn’t include the thousands of direct and indirect jobs created during construction.
The goal is to wrap construction in 2023.
Ferrante says phase one of the project will feature 140 hotel rooms, a convention centre, buffet, indoor water park, outdoor spa and kids’ zone.
