The Brockville Police Service (BPS) responded to 25 collisions during the snowfall yesterday.
Traffic was diverted through the city due to the closure of Highway 401, following the pile-up that claimed one life.
Police say the increase in traffic and poor road conditions set the stage for the slew of crashes. Several streets had to be temporarily closed until they could be plowed and sanded, according to the BPS.
Some vehicles were unable to make the climb up streets on a hill and had to be towed to level ground. A fire truck was struck by a vehicle at one of the collision scenes.
The BPS says there were no serious injuries reported as a result of the collisions.
