Radiothon nets $12,362 for local food bank

The community pulled through in a big way for the South Grenville Food Bank. The annual 107.9 Coast FM Radiothon brought in $12,362 for the organization. The radiothon ran from 6:00am to 6:00pm on Friday.

Local businesses and individuals dropped by the station and called in to donate. Last year’s radiothon brought in $6,900.

Food Bank Executive Director Bonnie Pidgeon Cougler says the radiothon is a major boost for the organization. She noted the food bank was $25,000 short on making its budget this year and the radiothon cut that shortfall in half. Pidgeon Cougler explained community support is integral.

The food bank serves over 1,000 people in Augusta, Edwardsburgh/Cardinal and Prescott.
