Connect Youth has big plans thanks to a recent donation. 100 Women Who Care North Grenville presented a $5,500 cheque to the organization on November 12.
Kris Van De Ven, Youth Navigator & Support Worker with Connect Youth, says the dollars will go a long way. He noted a Christmas dinner at the Kemptville Youth Centre is in the works and some of the funds will go towards hot lunches for students at North Grenville District High School.
Van De Ven explained the dollars will also be used to stock Connect Youth’s temporary shelters with food. The organization operates two 21-day transitional apartments for homeless youth – one in Prescott and one in Kemptville – and a 90-day full transitional housing unit in Spencerville.
Connect Youth, based out of South Grenville District High School, received 155 referrals for homeless youth last year.
