Coldest Night of the Year event to benefit Connect Youth

North Grenville is hosting its first Coldest Night of the Year event. The fundraising walk is set for February 22 at eQuinelle, starting at 5:00pm. Registration is now open. All proceeds will go to Connect Youth to help address youth homelessness.

Organizer Craig McCormick says the event is about raising awareness.

Connect Youth currently runs two 21-day transitional apartments – one in Prescott and one in Kemptville – and a 90-day full transitional housing unit in Spencerville. The organization had 155 referrals for homeless youth last year and was able to house 18 of them and offer 55 more outreach services.

McCormick noted it’s an issue he wishes people didn’t have to talk about, but they do. He explained the goal is to raise $20,000.

Participants can sign up for a two, five or 10 kilometer walk. Click here to register.
