Coat drive underway in Prescott

The Warm Coats & Warm Souls Coat Drive launched last week.

Organizer Gail Zilinski says she saw a need in the community and decided to start the initiative four years ago. The coat drive helped out 13 local families last year.

Winter clothing for adults and kids is collected all year round and handed out to people in need. Donations of coats, boots, mitts, gloves, hats and scarves can be dropped off at TD Canada Trust and the Prescott Town Hall.

Zilinski says the items must be in good condition. She noted small imperfections, such as a missing zipper on a pocket, are not a big deal, but if the main zipper isn’t working then it would be hard for someone to reuse.

People in need of winter wear can contact Zilinski directly through the Warm Coats & Warm Souls Coat Drive Facebook page.

She explained it’s important for neighbours to help each other through difficult times.
