Brockville Hospital Foundation aims to raise $250,000

The Brockville and District Hospital Foundation (BDHF) launched its annual appeal campaign.

The goal is to raise $250,000 this year to buy three new ultrasound machines for the diagnostic imaging department.

The four existing machines at the Brockville General Hospital are between seven and 16-years-old. The BDHF says updating the machines will provide better and safer outcomes for patients.

Dr. Jamie Hynd, cardiologist, noted he relies on echocardiograms to diagnose and help patients in the community. He explained the new machines will deliver higher quality test results in less time.

Dr. Kevin Tyler, radiologist, says updating the technology will allow doctors to see the tissues much clearer, including cancers and other pathology. He noted it also makes procedures easier, safer and expands the range of procedures provided.

The campaign runs until December 31. Donations can be made online or by calling 613-345-4478.
