Woman biking 1,100 kilometers to raise human trafficking awareness

The Ride to End Human Trafficking is making a stop in Brockville. Dominique Holley is biking 1,100 kilometers, from Windsor to Ottawa, to raise awareness about human trafficking.

Victim Services of Leeds and Grenville (VSLG), in partnership with Stingers, is bringing her to town. The free event is happening on Friday at Stingers (125 Stewart Blvd), starting at 7:00pm.

Sonya Jodoin, VSLG Executive Directore, says Holley volunteered with anti-human trafficking organizations and talked about what she was learning, which led to a friend recognizing a human trafficking situation. She noted it was pivotal for Holley and raising awareness is now her priority.

Jodoin explained VSLG is also focused on raising awareness. She says the organization goes into the schools and delivers messaging in the community.

Jodoin noted human trafficking is happening in Leeds and Grenville. She explained there’s two different pieces: victims being transported along the 401 and 416 and people in the community being trafficked.
