Apology for fatal 2014 crash heard in Brockville court

The family of a North Grenville man killed while riding his bike in 2014 received an apology from the man charged with his death on Monday afternoon.  54-year-old Mark Gagne choked back tears as he gave his two-minute statement in the Brockville courtroom.

Gagne says his actions hurt two families: the family of the victim Roy Chapman, and his own. Chapman’s widow Lori says she was able to forgive Gagne, because of her faith in God.

Gagne was convicted in November of dangerous driving causing death, and leaving the scene of an accident. The judge has put off sentencing until May.
