Local spaghetti dinner brings in over $1,100 for South Grenville Food Bank

The South Grenville community has helped out a local food bank once again.

A spaghetti dinner was held last Wednesday at the Prescott Fire Department. Executive Director of the South Grenville Food Bank Bonnie Pidgeon Cougler says nearly 100 people enjoyed a meal that saw over $1,100 raised.

Pidgeon Cougler says the money is going to keep the program running.

“Our main program is our food allotment program and that’s when people come in and they have a certain amount of points and they can pick the food that they require and need.”

There is also the baby formula program which provides baby formula, diapers and baby food to parents with young children. They also support seniors and have a snack pack program for kids.

Pidgeon Cougler thanks the volunteers.

“It’s pretty overwhelming how many people give up their time to help the food bank. I also want to thank the community. It’s the community that supports the food bank to keep it around. We’re not funded by provincial or federal funding.”

The food bank is located at 136 Henry Street West in Prescott.
