Prescott Fire Department holding Fire Safety Day event this weekend

The Prescott Fire Department will be holding a Fire Safety Day event on Saturday.

This week is Fire Prevention Week and this year’s theme is “not every hero wears a cape. Plan and practice your escape.” Fire Prevention Officer John Henry says it’s really important for people to know how to get out if there is a fire and to make a plan specific to their home.

“You could have less than two minutes to escape a house fire these days. And so just understanding what your way (out is), having two ways out of your home, having a safe place to meet and once you are out stay out.”

The event this weekend runs from 10 to one during the day. Henry says they are inviting everyone from the community to stop by and visit the new hall. There will be a free barbecue lunch, fire prevention material out, people can tour the fire safety house and fire trucks display, Sparky will be making an appearance and there will be fire safety demos.

The Prescott Fire Department is located at 302 Centre Street in Prescott.
