The Leeds County Detachment of the OPP is looking into the death of a recreational diver.
The incident occurred within the Bateau Channel on Friday around 1:45pm.
The Leeds County Marine Unit, Thousand Islands Fire department, Leeds and Grenville EMS and The Canadian Coast Guard all responded. The diver surfaced from the water and quickly lost vital signs, according to the OPP.
A 53-year-old man from Akron, Ohio was pronounced dead at the scene. Friends performed CPR until emergency services arrived.
A post mortem is being conducted to determine the cause of death.
