Prescott breaks ground for new splash pad

The Town of Prescott celebrated the new splash pad with a groundbreaking today.

It took place at Centennial Park next the pool. Town Council, local dignitaries, members of the Community Splash Pad Committee and members of the public attended.

Mayor Brett Todd says it was nice to see such a great turnout. He says the infrastructure will go down in the coming weeks and everything is on schedule for the project.

Committee member Lesley Hubbard says they are really excited to see it happen.

“We started this for the kids in the community, and it’s going to happen so we just can’t wait for next summer to see children and families enjoying this new feature in Prescott.”

Hubbard says they have been actively working on this project for about two years but the idea and pre-planning started long before that.

CAO/Treasurer Matthew Armstrong says the building for the splash pad will feature two accessible washrooms, two showers on the outside, and a control room for the splash pad itself.
