The Terry Fox Run saw the most participants and money raised in the past five years at this year’s event in Prescott.
A total of $7,859 was raised and 101 participants attended the event. Terry Fox Run Prescott Co-Chair Art Hitsman says it’s absolutely fantastic to raise that much money this year and see all of the support from the community.
“Terry’s dream always was one dollar per Canadian resident. With us bringing in almost $8,000, we know our population, I believe, is around 4,000, so we’re doing double what Terry was hoping for.”
Hitsman says one of his favourite parts of Sunday’s event was seeing the number of people out and smiling because they’ve seen a steady decline in the number of people attending in previous years.
