An Ottawa RCMP officer is dead of an apparent suicide. Minutes before 9:00 this morning, police and paramedics were called to a building in the city’s downtown core. Upon arrival, they found the officer had been shot. He was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Sources say the gunshot was self-inflicted. The victim was working in general duty protective policing. Ottawa Police say there will be no further details.
