Fleeing suspect hits police cruiser

A cruiser was damaged in a police pursuit. Grenville County OPP attempted to stop two SUV’s travelling together on Wednesday around 9:00am. One of the vehicles was confirmed stolen, according to police.

Both vehicles were observed eastbound on the 401, near Blue Church Road in Augusta. Neither stopped for police and the chase ended when one of the suspects’ vehicles collided with a cruiser, causing minor damage.

The OPP says no one was injured in the crash and the suspect involved in the collision got away. The other vehicle left the 401, travelling on the 416, and was located at an emergency U-turn near the Spencerville exit. The vehicle collided with a ditch and rolled over onto its side. Police arrested the uninjured lone male occupant.

The 19-year-old from Quebec is charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, dangerous driving and flight from police.

The investigation is ongoing.
