Registration open for Terry Fox Run in Prescott

You can take part in the Terry Fox Run this Sunday to help raise more money for cancer research.

This September marks the 39th anniversary of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope. Terry ran 5,373 kilometers in 143 days to raise money for cancer research.

The event kicks off at 9:30 that morning with free yoga in the park provided by Y Knot Yoga at the Rotary Pavilion in Prescott. Registration begins at ten at the Kinsmen Amphitheatre. Opening Ceremonies is at 10:45 with the run officially starting at 11.

Terry Fox Run Prescott Co-Chair Art Hitsman says the Fire Department will also have an aerial truck on display during the event.

“We usually wrap up around two o’clock and everyone that participates will get a free hot dog and free refreshments, and participation is walk, jog, run, ride or roller blade one, two, five or ten (kilometers) whatever you prefer.”

Hitsman says the Terry Fox Run is an all-inclusive, non-competitive event with no corporate sponsors, incentives or fundraising minimums. He says the Terry Fox Run only asks for a small donation to cancer research to participate.

People can preregister and donate through the Terry Fox website here.
