Canal Pursuit for Mental Health raises $16,000

A man who ran 785 kilometers raised $16,000 for the Mood Disorders Society of Canada. Clay Williams started the Canal Pursuit for Mental Health five years ago.

He ran from Port Severn to Parliament Hill last month, making stops in Merrickville and Burritts Rapids along the way.

Williams says this was the best year yet. He noted there was a lot of chatter on social media, which helps raise awareness.

Williams’ two older brothers committed suicide and his wife, daughter and older sister all struggle with depression.

He explained the Mood Disorders Society of Canada focuses on education and works with military people with PTSD.

Williams says he’ll be doing the run again next year. For more information about the Canal Pursuit for Mental Health, click here.
