Railway overpass west of Johnstown down to one lane starting Sept. 3

People can expect delays at the railway overpass located west of Johnstown, near Windmill Road on County Road 2. Construction will have it down to one lane starting September 3. The traffic restriction will be in place until October 22.

Arup Mukherjee, Director of Public Works for the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville, says the work involves rehabilitation of the bridge. He explained the abutments are deteriorated.

Mukherjee says the abutments are the sides of the bridge that hold up the deck. He noted the contract is being led by the Port of Johnstown because the structure is a spur line that provides access to the port.

Temporary traffic lights will be in place during construction.
