Local food banks partner to spread hunger awareness

Five food banks are working together to encourage people to take action against hunger. September is Hunger Action Month across the country.

The Agape Centre, Community Food Share, House of Lazarus, Merrickville Food Cupboard and South Grenville Food Bank will be focusing on different ways to spread awareness.

The goal of the campaign is to get people to educate, advocate, volunteer and donate.

Approximately four million Canadians are food insecure and struggle to put enough food on the table, according to Food Banks Canada. Over 500,000 adults, seniors and children visit Ontario food banks annually.

People are asked to contact their local food bank to find out how they can get involved with the campaign.
