You can help support the local food bank this weekend.
There will be a Fill the Cruiser event at O’Reilly’s Your Independent Grocer this Saturday with 107.9 Coast FM and Grenville County OPP. Food donations will be used to fill the cruisers and support the local community. The event runs from 10 to one in the day.
Executive Director of the food bank Bonnie Pidgeon Cougler says a variety of items can be donated.
“You can donate cans of salmon, you can donate peanut butter, sugar, flour, condiments like mustard, ketchup and relish. So, there (are) lots of great things to donate and we’ll be on site if you have any questions of what kind of items we need.”
Pidgeon Cougler says the winter months are quite tough and their goal at the food bank is not to let any child go hungry this winter. There will be games to play on Saturday as well as free magnets given out.
This is the kickoff event ahead of the Coast FM radiothon in December. Last year’s radiothon brought in over $6,900.
