Prescott Fire Department celebrates new building

The public got their chance to check out the new Prescott Fire Department over the weekend.

An open house was held yesterday at 302 Centre Street. Fire Chief Barry Moorhouse says there was a good turnout at the event.

“It’s been a really good day, a lot of nice people, a lot of positive comments (and) again I emphasize this is the Town of Prescott’s building. So, it was a great turnout.”

There was a ribbon cutting at noon and Moorhouse says Mayor Brett Todd spoke as well as MP Michael Barrett. A certificate was presented to the fire department. He added many firefighters, town staff, council and a lot of the tax payers of Prescott were in attendance.

Moorhouse says right now there is a full complement of 27 members in the fire department with 24 active members. He adds they will likely look at another recruitment in the fall.
