30,000 books up for grabs at KYC Book Fair

The annual Kemptville Youth Centre (KYC) Book Fair kicks off Friday. Approximately 30,000 books will be up for grabs. The event runs until Sunday at the Ferguson Forest Centre.

Director Lisha Elliston says there’s something for everyone.

Books are $2 each or 25 cents for kids books. Every dollar goes to the KYC, thanks to sponsorship from local businesses.

Last year’s Book Fair brought in around $20,000. The money goes towards the KYC’s mortgage and building expenses.

Elliston says the youth help out with all fundraising events. She noted they’re aware of the hard work it takes from the board of directors, volunteers and supporters in the community to keep the KYC going.

The organization offers free programming and a safe space for youth between the ages of 12 and 18.

The Book Fair is runs on Friday from 12:00 noon to 6:00pm, Saturday from 9:00am to 6:00pm and Sunday from 9:00am to 12:00 noon.
