Liberal Party picks Augusta native

Josh Bennett is the Liberal candidate for Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes.  The Augusta native, who went to school in Prescott, was nominated on Thursday night. He will represent the party in the upcoming federal election.

Bennett says it’s been an exciting week. He attended the citizenship ceremony for his wife, Ellie Bennett, on Friday. Bennett noted it was moving to see and everyone was very excited.

The 43-year-old works for Ipsos-Reid. Bennett says he is focused on climate change, which shouldn’t be a partisan issue. He noted climate change is upon us and the government needs to do everything in its power to limit it, without putting the economy in the toilet.

MP Michael Barrett is the presumptive Conservative candidate and Michelle Taylor will run again under the NDP banner.

The election is set for October 21.
