Portion of proceeds from Charlie McFarlane Memorial Golf Tournament to support Jumpstart

The Charlie McFarlane Memorial Golf Tournament will be helping out Jumpstart this year.

The tournament, which is presented by the South Grenville Chamber of Commerce, tees off on July 26th at noon at the Prescott Golf Club. One of the Chamber’s Directors, Ben Quenneville says there are already about 90 people registered. The band Unbuckled will be performing that evening.

Another Chamber Director, Blinda Campbell says they’ve partnered with Jumpstart this year so a portion of the proceeds will be going to the organization.

Quenneville says they chose to donate to Jumpstart this year because they thought it was a great fit. He says McFarlane was a staple in the community and it was always about helping kids with their sports. Campbell adds every dollar Jumpstart raises goes directly to kids and funds raised in a community stay in that community.

Quenneville adds the format for the tournament has changed this year.

“Really what we want to highlight is fun, networking and (how) it’s fantastic how the community has been coming together. So we’re scaling back the presentations. We’re going to have a barbecue so it’s going to be a very relaxed atmosphere but at the same time there’s going to be a band playing.”

Campbell says there will be a silent and live auction at the event. Campbell thanks the title sponsor Riverside of Prescott, the hole in one sponsor McDougall Insurance, barbecue sponsor Canadian Tire and live entertainment sponsor Property Guys.

Spots are still available for the tournament for $125 with lunch, barbecue dinner and entertainment included. Just the dinner and entertainment ticket is $35. Tickets can be bought through [email protected] or by calling Quenneville at 613-340-3297 or Campbell at 613-349-2113.
