Over $4,000 raised for BGH maternal care

An Evening Affair for Maternal Care raised $4125 for Brockville General Hospital (BGH).

The event took place at the Keystorm Pub in Brockville thanks to the founders of the Golfing for Maternal Care Tournament. Organizers Carole and Tom Hare say $2,375 was raised from a live auction with items donated from Canadian Tire Prescott, Johnstown Duty Free the Miller Family as well as a couple NHL jerseys. The rest of the money came from ticket sales at the Keystorm Pub that were donated back to the cause. There were between 75 and 80 people in attendance with Karaoke Crazy donating their time for the event.

The funds will be going towards a photo-therapy light and a LED photo-therapy system that treats newborn jaundice in the Women and Children’s Program at BGH. The cost is over $20,000 for the equipment.

Carole says they would like to thank everyone in the area for the extreme support and sponsorship. She adds they still have room for more sponsors for the golf tournament.

Their sixth annual golf tournament in August has sold out but the organizers have created a waiting list if a spot opens up.  People interested in putting their name on the waiting list can call Tom at 613-802-1969 or Carole at 613-802-0883.
