Organizers of an annual local golf tournament will be hosting another fundraiser this week.

The sixth annual Golfing for Maternal Care tees off in August but the organizers are hosting “An Evening Affair for Maternal Care” event this Thursday (June 27).

The event will be held at the Keystorm Pub in Brockville from six to 8:30 that evening. Organizers Carole and Tom Hare say they are raising funds for a phototherapy light and a LED phototherapy system that treats newborn jaundice. The medical equipment will be going to the Women and Children’s Program at the Brockville General Hospital. The cost is $20,000 for both pieces of equipment.

A ticket for the event this week costs $25 and attendees will receive appetizers throughout the evening, one free drink, a live auction and karaoke. All of the proceeds from ticket sales will be going to the cause.

Tom Hare says in the past five years of the golf tournament they have raised between 75 and 80 thousand dollars. Tom says they also have a raffle that anyone can put their name into for a chance to win a trip to Barbados. There are already three quarters of the 200 tickets sold for the raffle. Tickets are $20 each.

Raffle tickets and people looking to get their name on the golf tournament waiting list can call Tom at 613-802-1969 or Carole at 613-802-0883.
