Abigail Hosick rings in new beginning

Abigail Hosick has crossed the cancer finish line. The local 9-year-old rang the bell at CHEO today, signifying her final chemotherapy treatment. Hosick was diagnosed with cancer in February, 2017.

Friends, family and healthcare professionals gathered to mark the occasion.

Child Life Specialist Manon Rollin says ringing the bell is an opportunity for everyone who was part of her care to come together and celebrate the big day.

Alyse Gilliver, one of Abigail’s nurses at CHEO, came to the ceremony despite being on maternity leave. She says she was on the in-patient ward when Abigail was first diagnosed, so she’s seen her in both realms. Gilliver says it was a powerful moment watching her ring the bell.
