Kaylee Clark is top in the province for junior girls javelin. The grade 10 student at Gananoque Secondary School won gold at the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Association (OFSAA). The provincial competition was held June 6 to 8 in Guelph.

Clark went up against 22 athletes from across Ontario. She threw a personal best of 41.74m, which was 3.71m farther than the silver medalist from Sudbury. This was Clark’s first time competing at OFSAA.

She says it was very surreal to take home gold. Clark noted she couldn’t have done it without her coach Cara Lemkay supporting her both mentally and physically.

Principal Trevor Holme says the school is tremendously proud of Clark, who is quite humble about the win.
