$10,500 raised for mental health hub in memory of Mike Lalande

The inaugural Mike Lalande Memorial Golf Tournament brought in $10,500. The money will go to the Mental Health & Addictions Health Hub for Children & Youth. Lalande took his own life in November, at the age of 26. The tournament was organized by his sister, Amanda Fitzgerald.

She says the total blew her out of the water.

The cheque presentation is set for Wednesday at the Kemptville District Hospital. Over 140 people took part in the tournament, held at the Prescott Golf Club on June 1.

Fitzgerald says it wouldn’t have been the success it was if she didn’t have a team supporting her. She noted everyone who participated was more than generous, including local businesses. Fitzgerald says it was amazing to see everyone come together in support of mental health.

The plan is to make the ML Memorial Golf Tournament an annual fundraising event.
