Special Olympics gets boost from Law Enforcement Torch Run

Local athletes, students and police officers are hitting the streets in support of the Special Olympics. The Law Enforcement Torch Run will take place tomorrow in Brockville.

Members of the Brockville Police Service, OPP and Canada Border Services are participating.

The Torch Run starts at 11:00am at the Metro Grocery Store on King Street West. The event wraps up at Blockhouse Island, south of the Train Tunnel.

The Torch Run is a fundraiser to help local athletes with travel expenses and registration fees. The event also raises awareness for the Special Olympics.

The first Law Enforcement Torch Run was held in 1987. Over $30 million has been raised in Ontario alone.
