Brockville is getting ready to celebrate pride month. Brockville Pride kicks off Monday, with the flag raising ceremony at city hall at 11:00am. Community events follow throughout the week, including a meet & greet at the Spitfire Cafe on Tuesday afternoon and potluck at the library Wednesday night.
Event Coordinator Ryan Northrup says Brockville Pride was founded as a movement for a local student who passed away and now it’s become a big celebration for the community.
A drag queen competition is happening Friday at the Barley Mow, followed by a pride pub crawl. The main event is set for next Saturday, June 8.
Northrup says the Day of Pride starts off with the Rainbow Fun Run at Hardy Park. He says the Pride Parade starts at 12:00 noon, beginning at the rowing club and heading down King Street. The Rainbow Vendor Fair will follow at Hardy Park.
