Kemptville Live gets $88,000 grant

The Kemptville Live Music Festival got a financial boost from the provincial government. A $88,000 Celebrate Ontario grant was announced on Sunday.

Kemptville Live runs from July 18 to 21, at the Kemptville Campus. Headliners include Steve Earle and The Dukes, George Thorogood & The Destroyers and April Wine.

MPP Steve Clark made the announcement on behalf of Tourism, Culture and Sport Minister Michael Tibollo. He says what organizers have done to grow the four-day festival into one of Ontario’s best, bringing over 20,000 people to the community is truly remarkable.

Four other local events also received funding: the Big River Festival in Brockville ($116,843), Music on the Docks series at the Thousand Islands Playhouse ($12,213), 1000 Islands Regatta in Brockville ($27,433) and the South Grenville Bluegrass Festival in Spencerville ($6,301).

Kemptville Live organizer Karen Bedard says the funds lend direct support to the quality of the event by continuing to allow volunteers to improve accessibility, comfort and exposure of a great source of pride for Kemptville.
