Girls Inc. PA Day Camp Happening Friday

Girls Inc. will be holding a PA Day Program in Prescott this Friday.

The program is open to girls between the ages of six and 13 and will be held at the Leo Boivin Community Centre from nine in the morning to four that evening. Executive Director Lesley Hubbard says there will be a heavy “STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) focus” for this day.

“A few of the specific activities they’re going to work on will be, using teamwork to design bridges, creating compostable pots for seedlings and then planting some seedlings (and) they’re going to learn about fluid dynamics by making some slime that is sometimes a liquid and sometimes a solid.”

Hubbard says from the Girls Inc. point of view, they know that girls and women haven’t always been encouraged to explore the STEM field and they want them to know that science is an exciting and enjoyable field to explore.

Hubbard says capacity is around 20 to 30 girls per program and there are still spots available for this day.

The cost is $30 to attend with full and partial subsidies available. To register, contact Girls Inc. by calling 613-345-3295 extension 100 or emailing [email protected].
