Province invests in Hats for Hides program

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is investing $100,000 in the Hats for Hides program. Minister John Yakabuski says the program encourages responsible harvesting by hunters and contributes to the province’s hunting industry.

The Hats for Hides program is run by BRT Provisioners. The goal is to support good hunting practices by collecting hides from hunters in exchange for a hat or crest.

MPP Steve Clark says the program supports thousands of hunters across the province by making it easier for them to reduce waste. He says it creates a positive alternative to casting off unwanted hides and provides economic benefit in rural communities.

Hides collected support Indigenous artisans and locally sourced products made and sold in Ontario.
