Reconstruction of Henry Street East in Prescott will take approximately three months, according to Mayor Brett Todd.
Issues began around Easter weekend after the sewer line collapsed.
Todd says the reconstruction has started already after Council authorized it at a meeting last week. The engineering meetings started at the beginning of this week and the process will take about three weeks to replace the sanitary, according to Todd. He adds they are fast tracking the design package of the overall street which is a two to three week process and so they will move into the full street reconstruction right after the sewer lines have been replaced.
Todd says there are 12 residences affected by the collapse and the town will make sure they know what’s happening at all times with regards to the inevitable interruptions to their water and sewer as they bring the new system along.
Todd adds they are not really sure of the exact cost but based on staff discussions anticipate $600,000 to $750,000 for the project.
Todd thanks residents on Henry Street East for their patience with this. He says while it’s a bad news situation in the short term, in the next few months there will be a fully reconstructed street with modern sewer, water lines and new sidewalks.
