Prescott Challenging Businesses for Pitch-In Week

Pitch-In week begins Wednesday and the Town of Prescott wants to challenge local businesses.

The campaign to clean up litter runs Wednesday to Saturday next week. Tourism and Recreation Coordinator Katie Forrester says new this year is a “20-minute tidy” challenge going out to businesses for Wednesday to Friday. She says the town will help coordinate and work around a schedule and also send a photographer out to capture the clean-up efforts.

Anyone can tidy up around town, with bags and gloves available for free at Walker House, Your Family Dollar, Indoor Walking Club next week (Leo Boivin Community Centre) and in the Municipal Building.

“Participants can pick up their free materials, collect litter in the area of their choice within the Town of Prescott, and then either phone in and let us know where to pick the bags up. Or come to the appreciation barbecue on Saturday and let us know then.”

The barbecue will take place at Centennial Park from 11 to one that day.

Forrester says people involved in the clean-up should dress appropriately with gloves and safety vests and also don’t pick up any dangerous items, be careful near roads and wash hands thoroughly.
