Local hospitals challenge people to become organ donors

Brockville General Hospital (BGH) and Kemptville District Hospital (KDH) are running a friendly competition. The two local hospitals have partnered with Trillium Gift of Life Network (TGLN) to raise awareness about organ donation.

Every three days someone in Ontario dies waiting for an organ, according to TGLN. There are more than 1,500 people across the province currently on the waitlist.

BGH and KDH launched Be A Donor campaigns through TGLN and will track the number of people who register this month. Both hospitals are encouraging their staff, volunteers and members of the community to sign-up.

The CEO of the hospital with less registrations will spend the day as Cardiac Carl, the TGLN mascot.
