Two Charged after Traffic Complaint

Grenville County OPP says two males have been charged after a traffic complaint.

Police say they responded to a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver on Highway 416 southbound on Sunday night around 6:30.

OPP intercepted the vehicle in Prescott and after an investigation by a Standard Field Sobriety Test officer, the driver was arrested for Impaired Operation by a drug. Further investigation revealed large amounts of stolen items including tools, gift cards and unmarked cigarettes were found. The vehicle was seized and the driver and passenger were arrested, according to police.

A 41-year old East York man was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, fail to comply with recognizance, possession property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession property obtained by crime under $5,000, possession property obtained by crime under $5,000 and driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor.

A 53-year old from York, Ontario was charged with possession property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession property obtained by crime under $5,000, possess unmarked cigarettes, having liquor in open container, occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was prohibited or restricted weapon, possession of a prohibited device or ammunition, occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was prohibited device or ammunition and possession of a prohibited device or ammunition.
