The Town of Prescott has received more donations for the new arena thanks to local initiatives.
At last night’s Council meeting, two cheques were presented to help build the arena. Justin Kirkby on behalf of The Row gave a cheque for $11,500 from their New Year’s Eve fundraiser. Local hockey player Shawn Patterson also presented a cheque worth $6,000 from the GoFundMe crowdfunding campaign he started after the ice plant was shut down in August.
Leo Boivin was at the meeting last night to see the presentation of the cheques, as well as fundraising committee member Judi Baril.
Mayor Brett Todd says the cheques are fantastic and shows great community involvement. He adds it is a real honour to accept those donations along-side Leo Boivin and shows how much the community is behind the arena.
