Spaghetti dinner at Boomers raising money for local figure skater

A fundraiser to support local figure skater Matthew Markell will be happening on February 23rd.

Boomers Sports Bar in Prescott will be holding their second annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser for Markell. Markell’s mom Stephanie says money raised will go to his registration fees, competition fees, outfits and choreography.

“They usually run from five to eight thousand dollars per program. So we’re just looking for some support to help for his skating costs.”

Stephanie says right now he is on a break from competing and getting ready for his next competitive season which will begin in the summer.

Last year this event raised around $6,000 for Markell and Stephanie thanks the Town of Prescott for their ongoing support.

Tickets are $15 and can be bought in advance at Boomers and also on the night of the event. The dinner runs from four to eight that evening.
