Light Up The Brock Trail aims to raise $100,000

Community fundraising efforts are underway to make improvements to the Brock Trail. The goal is to raise $100,000 to install solar-powered, motion-sensor lights along the trail.

A GoFundMe crowdfunding campaign was launched in December. It has brought in about $1,000 to date.

Brock Trail Committee Chair John Taylor says the sections south of the 401 are all on the list to be lit up. He says some lights were installed last year to make sure they would work.

The City of Brockville will pitch in $50,000 towards the project if the fundraising goal is met.

Taylor says the 12-kilometer trail is referred to as a linear park. He says it’s available and suitable to all ages and abilities. Taylor says people can use the trail for walking, biking, scooting and other activities.

Tax receipts are available for donations of $20 or more.
