Record setting number of consecutive snow days for STEO

Student Transportation of Eastern Ontario (STEO) set a record for most consecutive snow days. Today marks the fourth day in a row buses have not been running.

It may be the longest period of time buses have been kept off the roads since the Ice Storm of ‘98.

General Manager/CAO Janet Murray says “despite the four days of cancellations, which I know is significant for families, students and schools, people have been very supportive and certainly understanding that these decisions are made with the safety of students and bus drivers in mind.”

STEO was formed in 2012 and serves the Upper Canada District School Board and Catholic District School of Eastern Ontario. The bus cancellations affected exam schedules at both North Grenville District High School and St. Michael Catholic High School.

Murray says its unprecedented and “all the stars aligned to bring us a little bit of everything winter has to offer.”
